What is the HK4As |

Established in 1957, the HK4As is managed and run by an Executive Committee and Sub-Committees. Committee members, elected from the senior management of member agencies, deal with issues concerning the future of the advertising industry and the business of member agencies.
There are currently around 22 members which are major advertising agencies sharing common objectives. These include the setting and maintaining of standards of business ethics, enforcing an advertising standards code, acting as a means of arbitration between agencies, and providing a forum for the exchange of views between advertising agencies and other engaged in the industry.
The Association organizes training programmes, membership activities and awards to recognize and honour the best work created in Hong Kong and China.

Message from the Chairman of HK4As
As we look at 'communications' and 'advertising' in many different ways today, it remains consistently true that in whichever form advertising manifests itself it is a key component of the creative industry of Hong Kong. As the HK4A's moves forward it is critical that we continue to provide leadership for our industry, to engage across the stakeholders in Hong Kong to ensure that we retain and build the importance of our offering to the Hong Kong economy and the Hong Kong creative industry. Our role extends far beyond the direct influence we have on Clients, staff and audiences, the success of what we do benefits many businesses locally, directly and indirectly, and our efforts play a key role in maintaining Hong Kong's competitive position at the heart of our growing region.
I am pleased to see that our field continues to be driven by outstanding talents across all the sectors our members operate in. Talent that brings our Clients incredible creative solutions, that exploits new technologies and techniques, talent that maximizes the impact and effect our messages can have and talent that finds ways to do it better, or more smartly every day.
This professionalism puts us on par with world standards in our industry, which is crucial to the reputation of Hong Kong as a Creative Hub. Sharing the same mission to drive the creative industry in Hong Kong, the HK4As worked closely with the CreateHK Office of the HKSAR Government in the past year on a number of events to bring about this objective.
Our 2009 Kam Fan winners will enjoy the privilege, sponsored by the CreateHK Office, to participate in international world class awards shows at Cannes, D&AD & Spikes, giving them more chances to shine on the international stage.
On the education front, the HK4As helped contribute to the local economy through the creation of jobs and provided training to enhance the professionalism & skills of Hong Kong's younger generation. In 2009, we worked together with the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau to create 100 employment opportunities, which included a full time trainee program for graduates, and a summer internship program for final year students.
And looking to 2010, we will continue to collaborate with our Government and counterparts to nurture an even stronger business environment to benefit our industry and its practitioners.
We look forward to and request the continued support of our members. Together we can ensure that our industry stays at the heart of the Hong Kong business environment and provides many people with opportunities, employment and enjoyment.
