Chairmen's messages

Spencer Wong
Creative Committee Chairman
Let's get away from our familiar environment and explore new ways of thinking under different cultural impacts and social changes. Let our mind travel to uncharted lands of unpredictable experiences, rewrite what we meet, see and contact. Enrich ourselves from different clients of diverse nature; skills and technologies. Only by sensing the various cultures in their happenings, developments and channels, can we then broaden our horizon to produce excellent works and projects; establish brand new communication paths & philosophies; and can just do what can make yourself feel good.
Let's have more colorful and brilliant ideas to guide our futures to collect more unique words for our dictionary and establish a literature of our own. Feel the true open world and explore the advertising experience anew.
Go experiment, dare fill the blanks of our future. It could be anything.

My Fellow Digital Consumer,
That's right, today we all are digital consumers. And this year's theme,"This year, it could be anything," is really about us - you and me.
While these words underline our belief that an idea can come from anywhere, it also sums up the immense and growing role digital is playing in our lives.
Not long ago, digital was viewed as simply a few banners tacked onto a campaign with possibly a mini-site. Today, digital often plays a lead role. And for good reason.
Take a look around you. We consume digital even when we're far from a computer (where would you be without your mobile phone?). We tune in to viral videos more than we turn on the TV. Even our skyline has gone online (take Prudential, AIG, and MGM Grand's huge LED screen for instance). And the list goes on.
It's an exciting time for all of us. Not only because people have embraced digital as part of their lives, but also because more and more brands have, too. And they're shifting their media budgets accordingly.
It is fitting that the title sponsor for iDAs for the past two years - PixelMedia Asia - has this year increased their support and is this year's Title Sponsor of the HK4A's Kam Fan Awards. This is yet another proof point of the changes that we are all experiencing. A big thank you to Kevin Huang and Winky Chan.
So, no matter where your next Big Idea comes from, you truly have the power to bring it to life. In short, it really could be anything.
Enjoy the show!

Chairman, HK4As Media Awards 2008
This year’s theme "It Could Be Anything" underlines the acceleration and evolvement of the media and communication business that go beyond broadcasting messages. As technology converges, media consumption is becoming individual, consumer controlled, multi tasked and self-edited. It leads us to face the increasing demand for integration as well as specialization, from TV to print, outdoor to online, content development to experiential marketing, ambient to events etc. Nonetheless, it is really about an idea that can come from anywhere and "It could be anything".
This year Media Awards, is therefore, not only about allowing talented people to prosper by recognizing the media innovation and creative excellence that comes from creative communication plans, but also embracing the top quality consumer insight that drive the success of innovative and effective advertising campaigns.
It is encouraging to see the standard of media work keeps improving from the outstanding winners tonight. And of course, we have to thank our clients, advertising agencies, media agencies and media partners who all made this happen and help the business to evolve.
Congratulations to you all passionate people for being a part of the Kam Fan Awards.
